Andrej Kramarić was the picture of disgust after TSG Hoffenheim surrendered a lead to draw 1-1 away to Crystal Palace earlier this evening in the Europa League.
“We’re disappointed because we played a top-class game," Hoffenheim's Croatian veteran explained in the mixed zone at Selhurst Park afterwards.
"We had plenty of chances and were aggressive. The counter-attack that led to the goal for 1-0 was brilliant; after that, we showed what we’re capable of.
"I feel sorry for the lads. We deserved three points today. We’ve dropped two points. With lots of young players, we put in a brilliant performance against a Premier League side.
"The goals in the final minutes are very frustrating. We showed a lot and were the better side. That’s very positive, but in football, only the result counts.
"I had a chance to make it 2-0; we could have scored again, but even a 1-0 win would have been enough. Sometimes it can be a bit like Italian football.
"Then we had the numerical advantage. We need to be smarter about that. We’re not satisfied with the point. But playing football like this, we’re a tough team to face.
"We wanted the win more. The Premier League is the best league in the world, but we were the better side. It’s good to know that we can hold our own against opponents like that," he added.
Christian Ilzer's men will return to Germany and give it one final go in the Bundesliga before the international break – FC Schalke 04 come to town this Sunday at 19:30 CET.
