By The Peshawar Motorway (M-1) will remain closed to all traffic from 11pm on September 23 until further orders, according to a traffic advisory issued by Islamabad authorities.
Motorists travelling from Islamabad, Rawalpindi and other districts have been advised to avoid the M-1 and postpone non-essential journeys. The closure comes ahead of a planned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Islamabad on September 27.
The M-1 is a key road link between Islamabad-Rawalpindi and Peshawar. PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leaders have said party workers plan to approach Islamabad through multiple routes, including the motorway and GT Road.
The M-2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway will remain open to traffic, according to the latest advisory. Motorists have been urged to follow official traffic updates and avoid unnecessary travel on affected routes.
