The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has released its first-ever data report on claims settled by the insurance industry, showing that insurers paid out more than one million claims during 2025.
According to the report, life insurance companies paid Rs410 billion in claims, while non-life insurers settled Rs132 billion. Life insurers processed more than 33,000 death-related claims, and non-life companies handled over 720,000 health and accident claims.
Motor insurance claims exceeded 282,000, while fire and property claims totaled nearly 11,000, the report showed.
SECP Chairman Dr. Kabeer Sidhu said that publishing claims data would strengthen accountability within the sector, adding that timely claims settlement is essential to maintaining policyholder confidence.
The report also showed that the insurance industry’s overall premium grew by 15 percent to reach Rs778 billion, while total industry assets rose to Rs4.1 trillion. Premium generated through digital channels increased by 71 percent.
