Broncos history-making LB named AFC Defensive Player of the Month

By November 5, 2026

Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton has been having a historic tackling season in 2026. Singleton has already surpassed 100 tackles (he's at a league-leading 101 tackles) through eight weeks, and had a game-high 19 tackles against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7. Singleton was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week against Arizona, before adding 14 more tackles against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8.

For his efforts, Singleton earned AFC Defensive Player of the Month honors from the NFL. In the month of October and Week 8, which took place on Nov. 1, Singleton had 68 tackles, 34 solo, 2.0 sacks and one pass deflection, according to a press release from the Broncos on Thursday. Denver went 4-1 in that span of time.

In Week 7 and Week 8, Singleton became the third NFL player since 1987 to total at least 14 tackles and a sack in consecutive games, joining Ray Lewis (2001) and Micheal Barrow (1998). Singleton is on a blistering pace for 214 total tackles in the season.

Singleton is the fifth linebacker in Denver history to win the Defensive Player of the Month award, and the first Bronco to win a monthly award since Wil Lutz in October 2025.

Singleton continues to be quietly consistent as the leader and playcaller of the defense, which has been a great unit so far.

Singleton and the Broncos next hit the field on the road Sunday against the Carolina Panthers in Week 9.
