Insider reveals why Steelers won't trade for another WR

By November 5, 2026

The Pittsburgh Steelers already received a troubling report less than a week away from the NFL trade deadline, and one insider is doubling down on the situation.

Earlier this week, Steelers insider Gerry Dulac was the bearer of bad news for fans hoping the team would target a wide receiver trade in 2026, but he just further explained why Pittsburgh won't go that route before the deadline.

"They are not doing that," Dulac wrote about the Steelers trading for another wide receiver. "They already did that when they traded for [Michael] Pittman."

Yikes. This is hardly the news Steelers fans want to hear with the trade deadline less than a week away. Yes, Pittman was an exciting pickup this offseason. But the trade has hardly panned out the way Steelers Nation was hoping for.

Pittman, who spent his first six years with the Colts, recorded 5,254 yards and 25 touchdowns during his time in Indianapolis. He was traded to the Steelers in March 2026 and appeared in three games before reaggravating a foot injury that forced him onto injured reserve.

There should be plenty of wide receiver trade targets at the deadline to monitor if the Steelers were planning on bringing in some more pass catchers, but as Dulac pointed out, the team may be taking a in-house approach when it comes to solving their receiver woes.
