By Pakistan’s premier equestrian Usman Khan on Wednesday complete his Asian Games journey.
France-based eventer finished 16th out of 32 riders in the individual eventing cross country event with 55.90 penalty points.
As many as six riders eliminated while two retired from the race.
“The pair stood in 19th position on the first day before two rails moved them down to 20th spot and ended their medal chances. They returned with a stronger performance on second day on Wednesday, completing the cross-country clear despite difficult typhoon conditions,” a press release issued by Eventing Pakistan said.
“Although 16th place was not the result Pakistan had hoped for, completing the event with a qualifying result represents positive progress for Pakistan's eventing programme as it works towards the LA 2028 Olympic Games,” it said.
Usman said that they gave their best for the country.
“Mirage and I gave our best for Pakistan. Alhamdulillah, and InshaAllah, competing at the championship level will become the new normal for Pakistan,” said Usman Khan.
Tian Hua of China claimed gold with 26.90, Thailand’s Woraphat Sittiju snared silver with 30.10 and Yoshiaki Oiwa of Japan ended with bronze with 31.70pp.
In team eventing gold went to Thailand while Japan snared silver and Korea claimed bronze.
On Tuesday Usman finished 19th out of 31 riders in dressage with 36.70 penalty points while in showjumping he ended 20th out of 32 riders with a 44.70pp.
