By Hyundai has unveiled the fifth-generation 2027 Tucson, introducing a major redesign of its compact SUV after six years. The new model is larger than its predecessor and places greater emphasis on hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
The 2027 Tucson is 60 mm longer, 40 mm wider and 20 mm taller, while its wheelbase has increased by 30 mm to 2,785 mm. Hyundai says the larger dimensions improve interior space, with rear headroom increasing by 29 mm. The rear doors also open to 83 degrees, compared with 73 degrees on the outgoing model.
The new Tucson adopts Hyundai’s “Art of Steel” design language, featuring a straighter and more upright body. The company has retained its signature H-shaped lighting, while the SUV gets a redesigned grille, cleaner bodywork and a more traditional SUV profile. The XRT trim also returns with black exterior detailing, dedicated wheels, cladding, skid plates and XRT badging.
Inside, Hyundai has completely redesigned the cabin with a horizontal dashboard, a large portrait-oriented touchscreen running the company’s Pleos infotainment system, a two-spoke steering wheel and a floating center console. Higher trims will also offer wood trim, while the XRT features unique seats, dark-metal accents and orange stitching.
Electrification is a key focus of the new generation. Hyundai has confirmed an updated 1.6-liter turbo hybrid as the core global powertrain, along with a plug-in hybrid variant targeting an electric-only range of around 100 km. Final power figures, battery capacity and charging specifications have not yet been disclosed.
The new Tucson and Tucson Hybrid are expected to reach initial markets in the fourth quarter of 2026, with a wider international rollout planned throughout 2027. South Korea is expected to be among the first markets to receive the new model.
Hyundai has not yet announced pricing or detailed launch dates for most markets. The company has also not confirmed whether the new Tucson will be introduced in Pakistan or whether a Tucson N performance version will enter production.
