Former Penn State linebacker Jack Ham will not be on the radio broadcast of the Nittany Lions' game on Saturday at Washington.
According to a statement obtained by USA TODAY Sports from Penn State Athletics, Ham is being treated at the University of Washington Medical Center after experiencing a medical emergency early on Saturday, Nov. 7, ahead of the Nittany Lions' 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff against the Huskies.
"Penn State Sports Network analyst Jack Ham experienced a medical emergency earlier today and was transported to the University of Washington Medical Center, where he is being treated. We do not have further information at this time," the statement read.
Ham played at Penn State from 1968 to 1970 under Joe Paterno after being the last player chosen for a football scholarship in 1967, as noted by his College Football Hall of Fame profile page. He was a three-year starting linebacker for the Nittany Lions, where he racked up a career 251 tackles.
In his senior season, Ham earned All-American honors after recording 91 total tackles and four interceptions. He was then selected in the second round of the 1971 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he went on to have a Pro Football Hall of Fame career.
He has been broadcasting Penn State games on the radio since 2000.
Penn State will look to secure consecutive Big Ten wins for the first time under Matt Campbell and its first back-to-back victories overall since a 3-0 start.
