Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca has revealed that both Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol were substituted because of injuries.
The duo were both withdrawn at half-time during City’s 3-1 loss to Nottingham Forest – their third successive defeat in the Premier League. Although the changes in defence appeared tactical, Maresca revealed otherwise after the game.
“Both injuries,” explained the Italian coach. “Both asked for a change.
“Marc Guehi injury, Josko Gvardiol had some issues already during the week. So it was just because they had problems.”
After a fantastic start to the season, City now enter the international break in poor form. Maresca will have time to analyse his side and find answers before they return to action in a fortnight’s time.
“I’m always concerned even when we win games,” reflected Maresca. “Again, we need to have balance.
“We won seven in a row, now we lost three in a row. So we need balance on that.
“Just during the international break try to understand what we can do better and try to start again after the international break.”
