The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has offloaded two passengers at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, after finding fake Netherlands visit visas on their passports.
According to an FIA handout issued on Sunday, the passengers, Qaiser Munir and Ali Hassan, were scheduled to fly abroad on a Qatar Airways flight. FIA Immigration officials identified the visas as fake during routine checks.
Preliminary investigations revealed that both men had agreed to pay Rs4 million each to an agent, Chaudhry Adnan Akmal Warraich, a resident of Gujrat, for the visas. Each passenger had already transferred Rs2 million to the agent’s bank account.
Evidence of the transfers was recovered from the mobile phone of one of the passengers. FIA Immigration Lahore handed both passengers over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, Lahore, for further action.
The agency stated that operations against agents involved in fake visas, illegal migration and human trafficking will continue. It added that such elements damage the reputation and create difficulties for genuine travellers.
