Bengals’ Joe Burrow first to accomplish feat since 1951

By November 2, 2026

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow made NFL history during the team’s Week 8 overtime victory over the Tennessee Titans, accomplishing a statistical feat that had not been achieved in 75 years.

Burrow became just the second quarterback in NFL history to record at least 450 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in a single game. He is the first player to accomplish the remarkable feat since Norm Van Brocklin did so with the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1 of the 1951 season.

Burrow delivers historic performance against Titans

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) scrambles before running the ball himself for a touchdown in overtime of the NFL Week 8 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Tennessee Titans at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026. The Bengals played to a 43-36 overtime win against the Titans.

The 29-year-old quarterback put together an outstanding individual performance in Cincinnati’s 43-36 overtime win over Tennessee.

Burrow finished the contest with 462 passing yards and five touchdown passes, adding another score on the ground to complete his historic performance. However, his afternoon was not without mistakes, as he also threw three interceptions.

Interestingly, those three interceptions matched Burrow’s total through the Bengals’ first seven games of the 2026 NFL season, making it an uncharacteristically turnover-heavy outing despite his impressive production.

Through the first eight weeks of the campaign, Burrow has now accumulated 2,115 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes, leading the NFL in the latter category.

His performance against Tennessee further highlighted his importance to Cincinnati’s offense as the team continues its push toward the postseason.

The victory over the Titans was another important result for Cincinnati, improving the Bengals’ record to 5-2 while extending their winning streak to three consecutive games.

With Burrow continuing to produce at an elite level, Cincinnati will look to carry that momentum into its next matchup.

The Bengals are now preparing to travel to Madrid, Spain, where they will face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 on Sunday. Atlanta enters the contest with a 3-5 record and will be looking to get back on track.

For Burrow, the historic performance adds another remarkable achievement to his NFL career. More importantly, Cincinnati will hope its franchise quarterback can maintain his outstanding form as the Bengals look to continue their winning ways and strengthen their position in the playoff race.
