Despite conceding goals in the first and last minutes of the game, RB Leipzig managed to maintain their perfect home record with a 5-2 win over FC Augsburg.

Augsburg scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history during the Bavarian derby earlier this season, and they once again led inside the first minute against another Champions League club. Willi Orban’s 400th competitive game for RB Leipzig started negatively as his mistake initiated the opportunity for Manuel Baum's men.

Maarten Vandevoordt stopped Arijon Ibrahimović's initial attempt, but Anton Kade scored from the rebound for his second goal in three games. The hosts responded well as they tried to create chances at the other end before Rodrigo Ribeiro's strike from an offside position.

Augsburg, who had issues keeping leads this term, restricted the hosts to half chances after that, but they once again crumbled just ten minutes before the half-time break. First, Ezekiel Banzuzi tied the score with a measured low effort from outside the box.

Brajan Gruda provided the assist after a mazy dribble, and he did it again a minute later with another impressive play down the right flank. Christopher Nkunku has the easiest job to tap it in from close range after Gruda's chipped assist.

The visitors were also under pressure for the rest of the half as Martin Demichelis’ side added a third goal against a club without a win since matchday 2. David Raum gave Finn Dahmen no chance with a brilliant direct free-kick strike just before the half-time whistle.

Half-time substitute Alexis Claude-Maurice had the first chance of the second-half, which also turned out to be dominated by the rampant hosts. Nkunku set up Rômulo's strike at the hour mark before substitutes Antonio Nusa and Christoph Baumgartner combined for Leipzig's fifth goal.

The Austrian international found the net within seconds of joining the game as he now has four goals and an assist since returning from an injury that ruled him out of the World Cup. Nigerian Uchenna Ogundu scored Augsburg's second goal in the last action of the game after his earlier goal canceled for a clear offside.

Leipzig maintained their perfect home record, while Augsburg will head to the international break with a seven-game winless run.
