The Florida Gators are set to switch things up at quarterback yet again. Jon Sumrall is expected to start Tramell Jones Jr. over Aaron Philo against the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
Jones Jr. took over from Philo after the latter struggled in the first half against the Georgia Bulldogs and threw two interceptions. Jones Jr. went 18 of 25 for 172 yards with no touchdowns and one interception through the air and added 17 yards and a touchdown on the ground as the Gators fell 27-8.
Jones Jr., a sophomore, had started the previous week for the injured Philo and led the Gators to a shock 27-24 road win over Texas. He threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns in that game and also added 41 rushing yards. Both he and Philo were listed as questionable heading into the Georgia game, and Philo got the nod in the end.

Jones Jr. could potentially be without one of the team’s top receivers in Vernon Brown III, who is doubtful to play against Oklahoma. Despite looking like he could potentially make his return against Georgia, he once again sat out due to the knee sprain that has kept him sidelined since late September. Brown III has 17 receptions for 271 yards, both third on the team, and has two touchdowns.
Dallas Wilson leads the team in receiving yards on the season, but Bailey Stockton has been the team’s go-to receiver in recent weeks. The senior has 20 catches for 234 yards and a touchdown over his last three games. He tied a season-high with eight catches for 76 yards against Georgia.
