New York Giants quarterback J.J. McCarthy left their matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles early on Sunday afternoon with an apparent hip injury after he took a shot directly to his side.
McCarthy, on just their second play of the third quarter, scrambled for a few yards up the left side. But as he went down, McCarthy turned and lowered his right shoulder — which was then drilled hard by Eagles linebacker Zack Baun.

McCarthy was quickly replaced by backup Jameis Winston, and went over to the sidelines.
Clearly, though, McCarthy’s injury was a big problem. He was seen trying to throw the ball on the sidelines, but he was in so much pain and actually dropped down to the ground after screaming out while reaching for his side. He slammed his helmet down to the bench out of frustration, too.

McCarthy eventually jogged off to the locker room. The Giants said he was questionable to return with a hip injury, though further specifics are not yet known.
