Govt Employees to Apply for Welfare Grants Through Online Portal

By November 6, 2026

Federal government employees and their beneficiaries will soon be able to apply for welfare grants and track their claims online through a new digital portal being developed by the National Information Technology Board (NITB).

The platform is being developed for the Federal Employees Benevolent and Group Insurance Funds (FEB&GIF) to replace manual applications with digital services, including online submissions, real-time claim tracking and automated processing. The Board of Trustees approved engaging NITB for the project during its 131st meeting on March 4, 2026, and both organizations have finalized the portal’s design.

The portal will allow beneficiaries to verify their identities through CNIC and biometric authentication, receive application updates and monitor claims online. It will also provide centralized beneficiary services, automated processing and management reports. The platform will become available after development, testing and deployment.

FEB&GIF received 8,637 applications under five welfare schemes during the current financial year through August 31, 2026. Of these, 7,231 claims were processed or settled, while 1,406 remained pending. The schemes include marriage grants, farewell grants, educational stipends, fee reimbursements and monthly benevolent grants. The funds currently require 45 days to settle complete claims.

The ministry document also states that if NITB fails to complete the portal within the agreed timeframe, its requirements will be incorporated into a proposed integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project covering finance, human resources, investments and beneficiary services.
