IESCO Faces Final Notice Over Rs. 1.5 Billion Property Tax Dues

By November 6, 2026

The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has issued a final notice to the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) over unpaid property taxes exceeding Rs. 1.5 billion. The outstanding amount relates to IESCO-owned properties and open spaces in Islamabad and has accumulated despite repeated notices from the civic authority.

According to MCI officials, the corporation has directed IESCO to clear the outstanding dues within the deadline specified in the final notice. A Deputy Director of MCI said several notices had previously been issued to the power distribution company, but it had failed to settle its tax liabilities.

The civic authority has warned IESCO of further action if it does not make the payment within the given timeframe. The latest notice provides the company with a final opportunity to clear more than Rs. 1.5 billion before the corporation proceeds with recovery measures.
