Michael Jordan reportedly contacted Charlotte Hornets president of basketball operations Jeff Peterson to make sure Brandon Miller would not be included in the franchise’s offseason overhaul.
The former majority owner wanted reassurance that the young forward was staying in Charlotte as the organisation moved on from LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges.
The Hornets traded Bridges to the Phoenix Suns as part of their roster changes, prompting Jordan to make a call to Peterson about Miller’s future.

According to NBA reporter Zach Lowe, Jordan contacted Peterson while Charlotte were completing the trade involving Bridges.
Lowe reported that the former Chicago Bulls star wanted to know whether Miller was also being moved, with Peterson quickly reassuring him that the forward was staying.
“About 14 months after that meeting [between Jordan and Miller], as the Hornets completed their offseason revamp by trading Miles Bridges to the Phoenix Suns, Peterson’s phone rang. It was Jordan,” Lowe reported.
“The former owner wanted to make sure that Peterson wasn’t trading Miller too,” Lowe continued.
“Peterson reassured Jordan: Miller was staying.”
Jordan’s reported involvement is notable given the changes Charlotte have made to its roster. Moving on from Ball and Bridges represented a significant shift, but Miller appears to remain central to the franchise’s plans.
The call does not suggest that the Hornets were seriously considering trading Miller or that Jordan intervened to stop a potential deal. Instead, it highlights the former owner’s interest in the young forward and his desire to see him remain in Charlotte.
Keeping Miller also gives the Hornets a player around whom they can build as they reshape the roster.
However, retaining a promising talent is only one part of the job. Charlotte will need to surround him with the right players and give him the support required to take on greater responsibility.
Jordan’s reported call shows how highly Miller is regarded. Now, the Hornets must turn that confidence into progress on the court.
