One of the most exciting things about Minor League Baseball is when the teams don alternate jerseys. Unlike teams in the majors, which wear alternate uniforms every now and then, minor league teams like the San Antonio Missions will transform into entirely new teams to add a bit of summertime thrills. In fact, the Missions' newest alternate gimmick channels one of San Antonio's favorite breakfast items.
The Missions have been one of the most recognizable teams for their alternate jerseys; look no further than the San Antonio Flying Chanclas. Now for the 2027 MiLB season, the Missions will swap shirts for three games in April to become the San Antonio Breakfast Tacos.

"As San Antonio's professional baseball club, the Missions have always represented various aspects of what makes this city special, starting with the five Spanish missions that helped found the city of San Antonio three centuries ago," Missions General Manager David Gasaway said in a news release. "In 2018, the introduction of our Flying Chanclas identity added a vibrant flair to our representation of the rich Hispanic culture not just in San Antonio but all around us. Now, we introduce our new alternate identity as the Breakfast Tacos, honoring a food that has fully captured the essence of San Antonio."

The Breakfast Tacos will take the field on April 16, 17 and 18 when they host the Frisco RoughRiders at Nelson W. Wolff Stadium. Tickets are not on sale yet, but fans can pre-order hats and T-shirts to support the Breakfast Tacos during their inaugural series.
It's unclear if the Breakfast Tacos will return later in the season. It's a missed opportunity if the San Antonio Breakfast Tacos never play the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits (also known as the Corpus Christi Hooks), but hopefully San Antonio shows up and supports its newest team.
