We have another round of NHL rumours to get you ready for the weekend. The 2026-27 season is just over a month old, but the hot stove talk is always happening. Teams are still trying to figure out their path forward as the season shakes out. Some teams are going to go all in and add pieces. However, other teams may start the process of stockpiling assets by trading away some veteran players.
One of those teams that could make a move or two is the Nashville Predators. This edition of NHL rumours deals with a pair of players that could get interest around the trade deadline.
All NHL rumours come from the original source and are subject to change.

Pair of Nashville Predators Players Could Draw Interest

Rumour: The Fourth Period speculated on a couple of Nashville players that could be tradeable assets. Both Brady Skjei and Nic Hague came up as names that could be moved by general manager Chris MacFarland.
Analysis: The Predators have been a team that’s been stuck in the mushy middle for a few seasons. Former GM Barry Trotz went for broke by getting Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault, and Skjei a few offseasons ago. However, those signings have yet to bear fruit and an appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Nashville tried tinkering with the lineup to try to get a spark, but nothing has come from those moves. The Predators have been active in making trades and signings to try and shake up the lineup. This latest piece from The Fourth Period signifies that the Predators want to turn younger as a franchise. Nashville’s average age is 28.38 years, which is 14th oldest in the NHL.
MacFarland has been busy wheeling and dealing since he moved over from the Colorado Avalanche. However, the Predators sit fifth in the very tough Central Division. There’s always the possibility that the Preds could look to the future.
This leads into what may happen to both defencemen in the coming months. Both players have experienced and have played on some winning franchises. This edition of NHL rumours will try to figure out what may be ahead for the duo.

The Last Word
The Fourth Period article said that Skjei owns a full no-movement clause. He would have to sign off on any deal before one gets executed. The 32-year-old blueliner is getting $7 million per season until the end of the 2030-31 campaign. That price tag could scare off some teams that might want the Lakeville, Minn. native as a depth option.
However, is all clear when it comes to its salary retention spots. The Preds do have some dead money with the Kyle Turris and Matt Duchene buyouts. However, those are only taking up around $3.6 million in space.
The Fourth Period mentions that the Predators are listening and would probably jump at the right offer. Dealing Skjei would definitely take a decent-sized contract off their books and allow them to get younger.
On the Hague front, Nashville said it isn’t actively shopping the 27-year-old defender. However, teams have been poking around and asking about his availability. The Predators are willing to listen, but they don’t want to end their relationship with the Kitchener, Ontario native.
Stick around for more NHL rumours as the season continues.
