Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially appointed Adrian Hamilton-Manns as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Consequently, the national carrier welcomes an aviation executive with more than 30 years of global industry experience. He has formally assumed charge of the company. Furthermore, this appointment marks a major leadership shift for the airline. Specifically, it stands as one of the first significant executive changes since an Arif Habib-led consortium assumed management of the airline on June 29, 2026.
The new PIA CEO, Adrian Hamilton-Manns, brings extensive international expertise to the Pakistani airline. Previously, he served as the chief executive for three different airlines across Oman, Kazakhstan, and Africa. Most recently, he led the Muscat-based low-cost carrier Salam Air since July 2024. Before his time in Oman, he operated as the president and CEO of Kazakhstan’s Fly Arystan from April 2020 until July 2024. Additionally, his earlier career features senior commercial roles at several prominent international carriers. These include India’s IndiGo, South African Airways, Virgin Australia’s Pacific Blue, and Indonesia’s Mandala Airlines.
Meanwhile, the new PIA consortium and corporate board formally acknowledged the massive contributions of the outgoing CEO. Air Vice Marshal (retd.) Aamir Hayat successfully led the airline through multiple challenges and notoriously difficult circumstances. During his eventful tenure, PIA significantly improved its internal aviation safety standards. Ultimately, his strict leadership helped the airline convince European and British authorities to lift their long-standing flight restrictions on the national carrier.
