Texas A&M baseball has lost a commitment from its 2027 recruiting class after right-handed pitcher Will McIntire announced Tuesday that he is reopening his recruitment.
McIntire, a standout from Boyd High School in Boyd, Texas, originally committed to the Aggies in September 2025. However, the talented two-way prospect has decided to explore other opportunities before beginning his collegiate career. In a statement posted on X, McIntire thanked Texas A&M head coach Michael Earley and the coaching staff for their confidence in him, then announced his decision.
"After much thought and prayer with my family, I have decided to decommit and re-open my recruitment,"
The sophomore put together an impressive season at Boyd, finishing 10-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 94 strikeouts. His performance earned him unanimous District 10-3A MVP honors. He also contributed offensively, batting .411 with 53 hits, 31 RBIs and two home runs while earning All-State First Team recognition as a first baseman.
According to Perfect Game, McIntire is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect whose fastball has reached 92 mph. His versatility and ability to contribute both on the mound and at the plate made him an intriguing addition to the Aggies' recruiting class. McIntire has not announced his next destination, leaving his recruitment open as Texas A&M continues assembling its 2027 class.
