Victor Wembanyama had arguably his greatest NBA performance ever against the Dallas Mavericks, and he made NBA history by matching Wilt Chamberlain.

Wilt Chamberlain is the Mount Everest for single-game statistical records in the NBA. His dominance was so ridiculous that there are some fans today who refuse to believe it even happened. On Wednesday night, Victor Wembanyama showed any fans that stats like those can actually be achieved.

The San Antonio Spurs narrowly beat the Dallas Mavericks 112-111. This was despite an absolutely monstrous display by Wemby. He racked up 52 points, 24 rebounds, and eight blocks on a day where the opposition could simply do nothing about his greatness.

Victor Wembanyama becomes first player to achieve unique 52-24-8 statline, matches Wilt Chamberlain’s record

While Wilt had games where he produced better numbers than this, Wembanyama became the first player in league history to achieve this particular statistical line. He did join Chamberlain as the only other player to have these sort of numbers, though.

“Only players in NBA history with 50+ PTS, 24+ REB and 8+ BLK in a single game: 1961 — Wilt Chamberlain. 2026 — Victor Wembanyama. Wemby joins WILT in the history books,” DraftKings Sports shared on X.

Wembanyama was widely considered to be the frontrunner for the MVP award this season before it began. Luka Doncic’s early dominance has since hampered those narratives, but this game is sure to put him right back on the map. When he plays like this, it is hard to suggest he is anything short of the best player in the world.
