Seventh-tier Wimborne are one of nine non-league teams still fighting in the FA Cup ahead of the second-round draw.
The Dorset part-timers, of the Southern League Premier Division South, stunned League Two strugglers Crawley 2-0 on Sunday to reach the FA Cup second round for the first time in their history. Stockport survived a scare to beat Cray Wanderers of the Isthmian League Premier Division 3-2, while eighth-tier Stafford Rangers also led EFL opposition 2-0 before Grimsby avoid an embarrassing exit and eventually made it through on penalties.
Saturday saw a few non-league teams get the better of EFL foes as Kidderminster thrashed Doncaster 3-0, Carlisle battled past Salford City 1-0 and Barrow won 1-0 on their long trip to Gillingham, while seventh-tier Guiseley also upset National League Sutton United 1-0. Friday night’s matches saw 2021 champions, and former Premier League winners, Leicester City avoid a potential banana skin at sixth-tier Oxford City.
Another seventh-tier side, in Plymouth Parkway or Berkhamsted, will advance to the second round and those teams meet tonight to conclude the first round, following the second round draw on TNT Sports.
