You Can Now Listen to 100,000 Books on Spotify in Pakistan

By November 5, 2026

Spotify has officially launched audiobooks in Pakistan. Starting November 4, both Free and Premium users can access over 100,000 English-language titles through a new add-on subscription. The service marks Spotify’s first major content expansion in Pakistan beyond music and podcasts. It also makes the country part of a massive global rollout reaching over 180 markets by year-end.

The subscription plan is called Audiobooks+. It costs PKR 489 per month and provides 15 hours of listening time. Only active listening counts toward that allowance, so pausing or closing the app does not drain your hours. The allowance resets with each billing cycle automatically.

For users who burn through those 15 hours, there is a top-up option. A 10-hour extension costs PKR 579 and can be purchased anytime during the month. Alternatively, users who prefer not to subscribe at all can buy individual titles outright. That a la carte option requires no monthly commitment whatsoever.

The catalog draws from Spotify’s global English-language library. However, the broader worldwide expansion includes over 350,000 titles across 120 languages. Spotify has been working with more than 300 publishers globally, including major houses like Planeta and Mondadori. Whether Urdu-language titles will eventually appear in Pakistan remains unclear for now.

Several features make the experience genuinely practical for daily use. Automatic bookmarking means you never lose your place in a book. The sleep timer lets the app stop playing after you fall asleep. Meanwhile, Page Match lets readers switch between a physical book or e-book and its audiobook counterpart. Spotify recently added ISBN barcode scanning to that feature, so you can scan a book’s cover and jump to the matching position.

Downloaded audiobooks also work offline, just like music. Moreover, Spotify syncs your progress across devices automatically. Start listening on your phone during a commute, then pick up from the same spot on a speaker at home.

The global momentum behind this launch is substantial. Spotify announced the expansion at the Frankfurt Book Fair on October 7. Monthly audiobook listeners grew nearly 40% over the past year. Listening hours climbed more than 30% in the same period. Meanwhile, Audiobooks+ has already crossed one million subscribers worldwide and generates over $100 million in annual recurring revenue.

For Pakistan’s reading community, this offers a genuinely new format. Audiobooks let people consume books during commutes, walks, or chores, times when holding a physical book is impractical. Whether it shifts reading habits meaningfully depends on catalog depth and whether local-language content eventually follows.
