The San Francisco 49ers injury report is out for Thursday. As usual, Trent Williams returned to practice after a veteran’s day off.
Christian McCaffrey participated on a limited basis. McCaffrey didn’t practice Wednesday, but it wasn’t because of a rest day, so it’s good to see McCaffrey return to practice after dealing with a hamstring injury.
The only other change from Wednesday was Christian Kirk. The wide receiver was listed as “Did not participate” with a knee injury after being limited on Wednesday.
General manager John Lynch already said the team would be without wideouts Deebo Samuel (hamstring) and Mike Evans (ribs/Achilles) this Sunday.
So, the 49ers would essentially be swapping Demarcus Robinson, who was again limited with an ankle injury, for Kirk if he cannot play.
There’s the “what if” Brandon Aiyuk suits up with the wide receiver depth depleted, but he hasn’t practiced or played with the team in over a calendar year. Aiyuk may have played his fair share of pickup games on the basketball court, but that doesn’t come close to simulating what an NFL game is like.
And that’s before you get into, you know, the other Aiyuk stuff.
