Eagles’ Saquon Barkley shuts down trade rumors

By November 2, 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles’ season has been a nightmare so far. They’re 2-6-0 and just suffered a 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football.

Franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts is out for the season with blood clots, and the team has lost six straight games. Backup quarterback Tanner McKee has struggled. He has been sacked at least twice in the last three contests.

Eagles fans are bracing for potential trades and the possibility of some of their star players being dealt. Some contending teams would love to deal for star running back Saquon Barkley.

Here’s what he said about the trade rumors.

There’s a ton of speculation about the Eagles roster, but Saquon Barkley squashed any chance of being traded this season. He said the Philly organization told him he won’t be traded.

Here’s what Barkley had to say about his future:

“I didn’t really read too much (trade rumors). You see the tweets and whatever, but I guess it means a lot. I have nothing but respect for this organization, top to bottom… I relish every time to go out there and play for this organization, put on the midnight green. So when that message was relayed to me, it definitely does mean a lot. But my whole mindset is we have a little issue going on right now and I feel like I’m the type of player and type of leader who can help us get out of it. I want to be one of the reasons why we fix it.”

The Eagles likely won’t make drastic decisions until they know what the future holds for Jalen Hurts. This is a lost season, and their offense has been riddled with injuries. Barkley has been banged up all year and can’t stay healthy for long stretches.

The first decision they’ll face is whether Nick Sirianni will remain the head coach. His job security seems to be in question every week. If they enter a rebuild, a clean slate might be the best move for both parties.
