Four of Washington's five starters scored in double figures as the No. 16 Huskies moved to 2-0 with a 75-54 win over Pacific on Thursday.
Tina Langley's squad weathered a 37.7 percent shooting performance as fourth-year guard Sayvia Sellers led all scorers with 17 and added 7 assists. Third-year guard Avery Howell had 15 and 7 rebounds, second-year forward Brynn McGaughy had 11, and third-year guard Devin Coppinger chipped in 11 and had 5 steals.

Coppinger has started both games this season in what might have been a bit of a surprise to Huskies fans, considering the additions Washington made both in the transfer portal and by signing four-star freshman guard Amayah Garcia. But the third-year Washington native was reliable in a variety of situations on Thursday and helped the Huskies push the pace, a point of emphasis for Langley's group against a physical Pacific squad.
"Devin, she just works really hard. I think she always tries to do the right thing; she takes coaching well, and so I think Devin just genuinely does whatever the team needs," Sellers told the media after the game. "If we need her to guard, like tonight, she had 5 steals. Usually she's getting on the glass for (offensive) rebounds. She just does whatever the team needs. So her role has been, (if) she's open, shooting the ball and being confident in that and then obviously on the defensive end, just trying to do whatever she can to disrupt the offense. I love playing with Devin; she just plays hard."
The Huskies got off to a bit of a slow start, shooting 23.5 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from three in the first quarter, which included a stretch of 4:44 between points. Washington's offense seemed to struggle to crack Pacific's defense in the first half, as a decent chunk of their shot attempts came late in the shot clock. But the Huskies found 10 points off turnovers in the second quarter and went on a 12-0 run to go up 10 to create the distance between the two teams in that frame, which gave Washington an 8-point lead heading into the halftime break.
After a back-and-forth third quarter, the Huskies opened it up in the fourth, going on runs of 8-3 and 9-2 to stretch the lead to the final difference of 21.

Pacific guard Jordyn Dyer led the Tigers with 12 points. Center Jojo Nworie had 11 points and 8 rebounds as the other Pacific player in double figures. The Tigers struggled with foul trouble, as four players committed 4 fouls and the Huskies shot 32 free throws.
Washington's starting forward Tilda Trygger, the only Husky starter to not reach 10 points, had 7 points and led the Huskies with 8 rebounds but left with an apparent injury with 3:07 remaining in the game. Langley said after the game that she did not have an update on Trygger's condition but expected to learn more later on Thursday night.
In other roster news, former Huskies big Yulia Grabovskaia was with the team in an administrative capacity after having her waiver for another year of eligibility denied over the offseason. Second-year forward Nina Cain was not seen on the sideline for the second consecutive game, giving Washington 11 available players on Thursday. (All 11 saw game action, as was the case on Monday against UC San Diego.)
Langley did not comment on the status of either player after the game.
Washington returns to action next Thursday against Cal State Bakersfield at 7:00 p.m. at Alaska Airlines Arena.
