What’s the key Jaguars-Ravens matchup?

Jaguars defense vs. Ravens RB Derrick Henry

Yes, it will take a village, or the entire defense to make sure that the Ravens don't get control of the game and try to keep it by battering the Yulee product at them. The Jaguars defense hasn't given up a 100-yard rusher in the last 24 games but Henry had eight of those against the Jags when he was with Tennessee, and in 15 career games vs. Jacksonville, he's churned out an All-Pro season: 1,584 yards, 16 touchdowns, and a 5.4 per-carry average.

The Jaguars have a history of holding Henry down when he's playing with a backup quarterback. In 2022, the Jags held Henry to 109 yards on 30 carries in a 20-16 victory that clinched the AFC South title, and the next year limited him to 38 yards in one game.

But Henry still looks the part after 11 NFL seasons and is well on his way to another 1,000-yard season. The only way the Ravens win this game is with Henry dominating and the Jags' vaunted run defense needs its best effort — without nose tackle DaVon Hamilton.

Their +238 point differential during that span is the best in the NFL by 104 points over San Francisco. … The Jags are 7-3 on the road under coach Liam Coen and are 2-1 vs. AFC North opponents. … Last week's victory pushed Coen's record overall to 18-6 (.750), the highest winning percentage among active NFL coaches with 20 or more games.
