The Italian tennis star and the Australian coach bring an end to a successful partnership that helped Sinner reach the top of the sport.
Jannik Sinner and Darrel Cahill Bring Their Successful Partnership to an End
Jannik Sinner has announced that Darrel Cahill will no longer be part of his coaching team, bringing an end to a highly successful partnership that lasted more than four years. The Italian shared the news through an emotional video posted on social media on Friday, paying tribute to the Australian coach and reflecting on the impact he had on both his professional career and personal development.
“So much of who I am, as a player and as a person, I owe to you” Sinner said in his message. “Of these five seasons, I won’t forget a single day. Thank you my friend, for everything. It’s been a privilege.”
An Emotional Farewell After a Successful Partnership
The announcement marks the conclusion of one of the most productive coaching partnerships in recent tennis history. Under Cahill’s guidance, Sinner developed from one of the sport’s most promising figures into a multiple Grand Slam champion and one of the leading figures on the ATP Tour.
Although the Italian’s 2026 season did not end as expected, following a lingering knee injury that has kept him sidelined since Wimbledon triumph in July, he made it clear that the circumstances surrounding his latest campaign would not diminish what they have achieved together.
“This season didn’t end the way we wanted, but that doesn’t change what we did” Sinner added, also expressing gratitude to Cahill’s family for their support throughout the years.
Cahill had originally considered leaving Sinner’s team in 2025. However, he decided to extend his stay and confirmed at Wimbledon that he would remain with the Formed World No. 1 until the end of the 2026 season before reassessing his future.
The Australian also shared an emotional farewell, thanking Sinner, the coaching staff and the fans for welcoming him into the Italian tennis family. “I wish the team nothing but continued success for the coming years” he said.

Magnus Norman Emerges As Sinner’s New Coach
Attention has now turned to Sinner’s new coach, with former Swedish player Magnus Norman reportedly emerging as the new member of the Italian’s team.
A former World No. 2, Norman brings considerable experience to the table. He previously guided compatriot Robin Soderling to two French Open finals and a career-high No. 4 ranking before coaching Stan Wawrinka to three Grand Slam titles. Norman recently concluded his second coaching stint with Wawrinka, who announced his retirement last week.
The Last Word
Meanwhile, Sinner is expected to return to competition in December at the Six Kings Slam exhibition event in Saudi Arabia. Having decided against competing in the remaining ATP tournaments of the season, the Italian will turn his attention toward recovery and preparing for the next chapter of his career.
