By Huawei has launched the Watch D3 in Europe, bringing blood pressure monitoring to a smartwatch with an inflatable cuff built into its strap. The watch is CE MDR-certified for blood pressure monitoring. Unlike most smartwatches that use optical sensors, the Watch D3 uses an airbag cuff for its readings. Huawei has also designed it for 24/7 blood pressure tracking, making monitoring a key part of the device.
The watch also adds a new mode for exercise-related measurements. It can track blood pressure before and after workouts. This gives users a closer look at how exercise affects their readings. The Watch D3 also includes a Health Community feature for families. It lets users check health data from family members. The watch can also send alerts when it detects potential health abnormalities.
In the UK, the Watch D3 is available through Huawei.com, Amazon, Currys and Argos. It has an MSRP of £400, although Amazon is offering a £30 discount on the watch. German buyers can choose between the Huawei Scale 3 and FreeBuds SE 4 ANC. Both products are included at no extra cost with the Watch D3.
The Watch D3 is also slimmer than the Watch D2, which launched a couple of years ago. It measures 11.3mm thick, compared with 13.3mm for the older model. Huawei has also increased the display size from 1.82” on the Watch D2 to 1.92” on the D3. The newer model also brings updated connectivity and sensors.
With its cuff-based blood pressure system, the Watch D3 takes a different approach to health tracking. Its European launch also comes with several bundled offers for early buyers.
